Never Mind “How to Start a Blog”. Do This Instead
I’ve started more than a few blogs in the last ten years. No matter how I start each blog, the path is the same; write, write and write some more. Take a look at my stats and traffic. Get that sinking feeling in my stomach because all that work equals absolutely nothing as far as reaching others goes.
It’s a soul-sucking venture.
And we do it all, hoping that at some point our efforts will grab some traction and all that work will pay off.
I started writing about 17 years ago, primarily as a mental and creative outlet. Back then, I started writing on a platform called Blogger because it’s free to use, and super simple to figure out. Unlike Wordpress, whose learning curve can make you want to throw your laptop through a window.

Each time I start a new blog, I use Wordpress to do it. And every time, I use pretty much the same marketing strategies to distribute my work.
But marketing that blog requires that I use other platforms to help distribute my writing, and that can be hit or miss. It also takes a lot of time.
