What Do You Regret Not Doing When You Were Younger?

I used to think that living with regrets was a terrible thing.

Just thinking of the word “regret” used to make me cringe. In my mind, it was definitely a negative word. Clinging to old memories wasn’t something that I wanted to be dwelling on.

So I’ve replaced the word “regret” with “remedy” in my life. It’s much easier to swallow.

Regret doesn’t have to be negative.

What if I used regret to understand and learn more about my past, in order to live a better life today?

What if being clear about the things we regret not doing could help us get a clearer picture of our own paths to happiness and success?

Now I embrace regret. I see things that I regret not doing as ‘lessons’, things that I need to ‘remedy’ so that I don’t continue to regret not doing them, or to think that I simply should have done those things differently.

A lot has happened in the last few years; Kids moved out. New career. Changing cities. New home. New interests. New friends. My daily routine is completely unrecognizable to how I lived even five years ago.

Now as I look back, I realize that I do have a few regrets, or things that I need to remedy, particularly some things that I didn’t do enough of in my twenties.
