Where Would You Spend All Your Time If You Could?

It’s a simple question, but it’s something that very few of us ever really think about, simply because it’s well
simple.

It’s one of those “get to know you” questions. One that you might ask someone on a first date, but it really is interesting to think about.

Where would you spend all your time if you could?

When my children were young, I’d take the opportunity to pull them out of school once a month on a Friday, and we’d go to the beach. I’d pack enough food to last us the day, and we’d head down to our favorite spot to just kill the day.

I called them “mental health days”.

When I called the school to let them know that my children wouldn’t be there that day, the school secretary would say “Ohhh
are they ill?” and I’d respond with “Nope. We’re taking a ‘mental health day’
going to the beach.” And she’d say “THAT is amazing. Have fun!”

We’d pack up the car for the 20-minute ride to our favorite beach. The kids would play with their toys in the sand and the water, happy in the knowledge that everyone else was at school, but they were at the beach with Mom.

I loved sitting in my beach chair under an umbrella, watching them play, while thoroughly enjoying the vastness of the ocean. I remember how much I relished the feeling of the wind
